15-14 Heartbreaker in Paris

The Peterborough Timbermen lost a 15-14 heartbreaker to the Paris River Wolves at the Syl Apps Community Centre Saturday. The Timbermen fought back from 10-4 deficit in the second quarter only to come up one goal short in their best effort of the season.

Dan Michel led the attack with four goals. Whitby’s Cam Garlin had one assist in his Timbermen debut. Garlin was acquired Friday from the Oshawa Outlaws for future considerations. Garlin is a member of the Trent Excalibur and was third in team scoring this past season as a rookie with 28 goals and 10 assists.

Nolan Clayton held the River Wolves to five goals in the second half of the game, making 36 saves overall.

The loss drops the Timbermen to 0-6.

Brendan Thenhaus led the River Wolves with four goals and four assists. Mike Melnychenko had five goals and an assist. Rance Vigneux and Kevin Orleman combined for 47 saves.

The Timbermen have one more game away before returning home to the Memorial Centre on February 26. Tomorrow they host the Toronto Monarchs in Oshawa at the Tribute Communities Centre at 4:00pm.
